Emma walked to the beginning of the trail, Spirit's reins in her hand. She stopped and looked down at her puppy Charlie, kneeling down, she began to scratch her ear. Emma then stood up, picked up Charlie and gracefully climbed onto Spirit's back. Immediately Spirit picked up speed and was soon in a canter. Emma pulled Spirit's reins, slowing her to a trot, for Charlie was very scared of the fast speed. Emma looked at a few deer passing the trail and smiled. She loved the outdoors, and being alone with her two favorite animals. She stroked Charlie who was sitting between her legs. She then stopped Spirit and put an extended leash on Charlie and then grabbed her and climbed off Spirit. She set the 5 month old puppy on the ground before climbing back onto Spirit.
Emma knew Spirit would be careful not to step on Charlie, for Emma took Spirit and Charlie on walks like this every day or every other day if Emma was busy. Charlie kept her distance from the horse but didn't wonder far. Emma kicked Spirit gently in the sides, making her move into a fast trot, forcing little Charlie to run. When her tongue fell out of her mouth, Emma made Spirit began to walk. You alright Charlie Emma said, stopping Spirit and climbing off. She pulled out a water bottle that was her backpack and a container, then she filled it with water and watched as Charlie lapped it up. She looked at how much farther the trail was and then picked up Charlie and set her on Spirit before climbing onto her horses back herself.
Emma took the extended leash off of Charlie and put it in her backpack, then pulled out a normal leash and a harness. She put the harness of Charlie and then wrapped the leash around her own waist, then clipped the leash onto Charlie's harness. This was Emma's way of making sure Charlie didn't fall off. Charlie had to stay close to her body cause there was not much leash room, and that also meant that Emma wouldn't have to hold Charlie and Spirit's reins at the same time. She got a hold of Spirit's reins and gently hit them against her neck, forcing her into a gallop, then she made a clicking noise when a log was in view. Spirit jumped gracefully over the log without a problem. Emma smiled and patted Spirit's neck. Spirit was a natural jumper but that log was huge. She slowed Spirit into a trot again and then began to look at the view around the trail
